Gestational Diabetes

I'm back in JB for the weekend. The last time we were here was before Sis left for the UK. It feels good to be home. I've been feeling the baby kick for the past few weeks but everytime AJ puts his hand on my tummy the baby will stop. But today, the baby kicked really hard 3-5 times and AJ got a chance to feel it for the first time. Yay. I got a call from KKIA...They told me I have gestational diabetes. My sugar level (from the last test) was 8.2. I have to go back ASAP to run more tests. I haven't read much about gestational diabetes etc... Not in the mood after that sort of news. I'm not sure how to feel. I guess I have to take extra care about what I eat and be more active? I read that pregnant moms with gestational diabetes cannot go over their expected due date. I guess my chances of giving birth naturally is lower now. Unless the baby comes sooner than the due date. I don't want a c-section. :( Oh well. I guess things happen for a reason. I pray that the...

Newlyweds.

Apparently we look like newlyweds. I mean, I know we are, because we've been married less than a year, but I never realised that newlyweds have a certain 'look'?  I was talking to AJ in the LRT to work this morning (but I was sitting and he was standing). We were talking and laughing and I salam him (as I always do) and he gave me a kiss on the forehead (as he always does since we got married) before we reached his stop. When he got off the train, suddenly the girl next to me said, " Kak, tanya boleh? " So I said, "Yes?" " Akak baru kawin ke? Nampak macam baru kawin ". I laughed and said " takde la baru sangat ". At first I felt embarrassed, maybe I acted inappropriately in public with my husband for her to say that? Maybe she was annoyed that we were talking too much? (I'm pretty sure we weren't doing anything too PDA in the train). But then I decided to not think about it. If it's true that we look l...

Hypnobirthing

When I first found out I was pregnant, one of the first people I told was a colleague here in UniKL. Her name is Dr. A. I knew her because we had to attend a meeting together at one of the institutes. We were talking about random stuff when I suddenly told her about my pregnancy (I have no idea why I told her). She told me how much she loves the process of being pregnant and urged me to find out about Hypnobirthing/Gentlebirthing. She then told me how she made the decision to give birth to her second child using HVBAC - Home Vaginal Birth After Caesarian (read her story here: My HBVAC Hypnobirth Story   One of the reasons she made this decision was because of her traumatic first child birth experience. She, however, stressed the importance of being well informed about the process of childbirth etc. Anyway, a few days later she emailed me two e-books on gentle birthing and told me that I must read it!  I recently got around to start reading the books she emailed me (Th...

Nothing to wear (seriously)

I am running out of clothes to wear. I cannot fit into ANY of my pants. And everytime I want to buy new clothes I get paranoid that I won't be able to wear them long because I will just get bigger. I'm not pregnant enough to start wearing maternity wear...  Suggestions...anyone? :(

2014.

Z just made me realise how big, NO, HUGE 2014 has been for me. One: I got engaged in January (25th January 2014) Two: I got a job in April (1st April 2014) Three: I graduated officially in April (I can't remember the date) Four: I got married in May (3rd May 2014) and officially moved out from my parents' house Five: Pregnant in June Six: Got confirmed in my current job in August (18th August 2014) Alhamdulillah. And these are just the big ones...there are also those other countless blessings...I should be more grateful...I've been complaining a lot lately. :(

$$$

Yesterday I suddenly realised that at the age of 27, I do not really have any savings. I mean, I put away money here and there but I haven't actually consistently saved money for future purposes. It was not until I found out that I was pregnant that my husband and I decided to start a baby fund (but then, that's for the baby so I still do not have my own savings). So yesterday I decided to make a change, and really save for my future. I am finally going to consistently put money aside for my own future, as well as continue the baby fund that we started. I realised that if I don't put away the money, I will end up spending it on unnecessary stuff.  I'm going to be strict on the way I spend my money from now on. I don't make a lot, so I have to be smart. Of course I will still make sure I have some to enjoy life, but going to be more serious about where my money goes.  Here's to managing my future better. Yes Iqa, you can do it. Good luck to me. ...

Definitely made my heart grow fonder.

It's so good coming home to you. I feel safe. Alhamdulillah.
